JL Audio 500/1 No longer powering on??

I currently have a 500/1 and (2) 10w3v2 d4. Each sub hooked up into each speaker connection output slots on the amp. Lately, 1 of my subs have been clapping. (about to blow??) On my way home today, I noticed my system was cutting on and off, so I pulled over and noticed the amp no longer turns on (no sign of power light). Fuse is still good.

sounds like your amp died...

unplug the speakers and see if the amp even turns on...

i've unplugged the speakers and the same result occurs... green power light is on for a bit and then shuts off.

Wonder why there is such a high failure rate with the JL Slash series amps?? I know ppl praise them as being very good amps, but seeing how alot of ppl are having problems with theirs, I don't see JL as being as good as they use to be.

JL amps seem to have a high failure rate on this forum.

UPDATE

turns out the amp was not burned, just went into protect mode. i don't know why the red protect led didn't light. but it was running it at 1ohm when the lowest the amp would go down to is 1.5ohms.

Hmm, im having the same problem with my JL 500/1... The green light stays on, i have to jiggle the speaker wires or switch the crossover on and off to regain sound..

I sell a lot of jl amps, haven't had a high failure rate, most problems seem to be when there run at one ohm. Whats funny is they will do it for a long time, sometimes years ! The new v2 will not even play at one ohm. I loaned a v2 in place of a v1 that had quit would not play customer was at one ohm.

I've used JL stuff for 10 years, their amps ever since they came out. Never one problem with anything. Used as [JL] reccomended, performed as advertised
