JL Audio 500/1 issue

What does this resistor due? It has a crack down the middle of it, and a small piece is broken off.

The amp appears to work just fine, but I am concerned about "for how long" now.

they get hot..its ok..its normal..just pull them out and replace them before they do fail..it might cause other problems if they do fail..if they are the ones I think they are..you'll know if they do go bad cause the amp will squeal really loud when u power it up and otherwise wont work...

What are you talking about? The resistor is cracked right down the center. The halves move away from each other and the only reason they haven't fallen off is because of the components around them don't give them the room to.

How is this "normal"??

Well, JL wants $180 to fix this, which is asinine! I only paid $200 for the amp, and it aint the "prettiest" (lots of scratches and such). By the time I've paid another $180, I could have, almost, bought a brand new one!

Provided the amp is still working..I will replace ALL the failure prone resistors in that amp for 50.00 u pay shipping back and forth..
