JL Audio 1001/1 problems

Hello,

I have a 1000/1 thats a little over 4 years old.

When it works it has always been a satisfying amp.

Its not pushed hard at all.

The biggest load Ive had on it is 2 W3v2s.

The low impedence light comes on ,and the amp has no output at all.

Its not the Subs.

The load is 4 ohms ,and that hasent changed.

Its hit or miss.

I may get in the car ,and it work fine that one time ,and the next time i get nothing.

Sometimes it has powersurges ,and it will make the subs go boom for no reason ,and then it may play or it may not.

Any ideas?

I read somewhere that the power transistors may be shorting?

Any place I can take it to get repaired or does it have to be shipped to JL?

chris at db-r can fix it but i would first check all wires and the subs to make sure a voice coil hasent gone bad..
