I just bought a car that has a custom trunk setup. It had 2 jl 12w3's in it that sounded reaal good for me. I dont want to spend more then $300 on a new set of subs. the 12w3's that were in the trunk are now blown and need to be replaced. I can rather 1) Get another set of w3's since they sounded fine to me or 2) Read some of your reccomendations on sub that do just as good of a job but cost less ( im NOT paying retail .. )

My car is a 2001 Bmw 325xi.

Here is a pic of the current setup:

so ur looking for a set of 12's that are $150 each ? lol new i doubt it , maybe some used stuff in the classifieds, what do w3's even take @ wrms ? how big is your bass amp ? and why JL for godsake

Think i'll give these a shot. Looks like you have one installed. Care to give a quick mini-review?

Someone commented on me just blowing them again.. the problem with that is i didnt blow them in the first place, the previous owner did...kinda... lol. There's a rockford fosgate amp ( 2 of them running to each sub ) in the mix as well, not sure on the RMS though but it was more then enough with one sub alone hooked up.

^^ Also, do you think those will screw into my current setup without any modification? I plan on keeping the enclosure setup, etc..

im not sure how well they would work in your enclosure, as it is sealed. it was more or less targeted at the guy who said you cant get anything decent for for 300 a pair. i have my 15" in 4 cubic feet tuned to 38hz (recommended) and i am very happy with it. do you have any idea what kind of airspace your working with? as long as the cutout diameter are about the same and its deep enough it will physically fit but i cant vouch for what it will sound like in your enclosure.

Found out the cubic footage of that box and we would be able to help recommend something to ya. I suggest asking the owner or who ever built the box.

If not, I would just get some w3's again, which should be fine, just would tone back on the amps some is all.

Also nothing wrong with JL, just that they are uber expensive.

If you can find what the CF is of that box, we could recommend more stuff, otherwise we are just firing blanks.

The box is the key part of the install. If you want to keep the same box, you'll need to match the subs to what the box size and type is.

Like it was said, give us at least an approximate size estimate of the box, and we can give you a good recommendation.
