Will 8 gauge wires work for the JL 500/1? Or do I need 4 gauge wires?

^^^^^2 What he said....From experience I would run 4. I use to have a 500/1 and used 8 instead of 4.

Bigger is always better..but the 8 ga should do it

Here is an interesting fact.

I was running 8 awg to my 500/1v2, I could put out 38 volts on a 50hz 0db test tone just before clipping. After running 4awg and adding a 4awg ground cable to my battery I can now put out 43volts without clipping.

Tests were made using a scope.
