Hello All I'm wondering if I would be fine for a JD500/1 for a WO 12 inch that's 300 watts RMS, or should I get the JD 1000/1 and not run it to high. The speaker says 600 watts peak power. Also what is the difference between 14.4 or 12.5? different rms for each voltage

The 1000/1
The 500/1 is only 250 @ 4 ohms, 500 @ 2 ohms
The 1000/1 is 600 @ 4 ohms, 1000 @ 2 ohms
Your only running 1 4 ohm sub so the 500/1 would not even run RMS into the sub
Plus you would have the room to add a second if you ever wanted to
14.4 is the voltage your car should be putting out while running.

How do you suggest running the 1000/1?
should I just keep the gain halfway?

Are you installing yourself or going through a shop?
I’m going through a shop. They told me JL is the way to go. I had JL back in the day and I loved it my budget was 1500. So I got a 4 channel jl amp off eBay to power the highs which are the cp1’s and I’m getting that JL wo 12 box. I’m just trying to figure out is the JD500 enough or should I get the 1000

There are so many
JL is great don't get me wrong but they want your first born.
For the kind of money your going to spend on the JL's you could get... (plus have a money to have a box built. Don't get a prefab box)

Or these guys are having a sale right now so if you hurry

That's just a couple examples
Sundown Audio, Taramps, American Bass, are a couple other brands to look into

If you have already paid I have stated that the 500 will only put out 250 @ 4 ohms which is underpowering the sub
The 1000 will power it
If your having it done by a shop then have them set your gains unless you own a multi meter
If so then here is how to do it

if you get the 1000/1 (id get it), dont just turn the gain half way up. set the gain right. heres how. the test tones are at the very bottom of this link...

Please excuse this extra question .. Is there a specified patch lead or compatible bypass harness for the factory amp or would I have to create it...
