JL 1000/1 Settings

I've been doing searching on this site about the settings on the JL amp. None of them seemed to solved my issue, so I'm going to post a question. I have a 13w7 in a ported enclosure not sure the specs of the enclosure, and pushing it with a jl1000/1. Wired with 4 gauge and Pioneer 8600MP head unit.

My question is I seem to lose bass during certain songs. I'm guessing it has to do with my frequency range or something but I'm not sure how to set it. Usually the bass hits continuously, but sometimes during the song it just doesn't hit as hard and when I turn up the bass level on the head unit, it doesn't even produce more bass, then maybe like 5 seconds later the bass comes on out of nowhere. I'd say it's kinda like a bass lag or something I don't know. If anyone can give me any recommendations I'd appreciate it. Oh yeah, I tried to set my amp settings like the ones on the JL Site but still doesn't really help.

This question was posted in 2007. Seems nobody answered or may have posted twice and was successful on the other thread.
Ah ok thank you. Im currently setting up the same amp and was looking for answers. The Q setting has ne confused. Have no clue where to put it at. Every link someone posted is dead so I cant read their links anymore. Also how did you know I responded? Is there an app for this website or no?

The Q setting is basically a fine tuning for the bass boost option. The Frequency knob lets you center what frequency you want to boost and the Q knob controls how wide the boost goes from that center point. With my current subs I have mine set at 45Hz and 2.7Q.

Mine is like 1.1. Im trying to find out where it used to be at. It doesn't sound the same since the kids messed with it. I have a jlw7 12" sub. The box that jl audio sells with it. Its ported. I see them online red but mine is black. Im trying to find out where its tuned at. I think its 32htz. So should I put mine at 45 also? I believe that is where mine is at if its the center. What sub are you running? I think I will try 2.7Q and see if that makes mine sound better. Infrasonic is set to the number 25 I believe on the app. The number that is on the amp is 25. That is where its pointed at. I didnt know where to put it since I have a ported box. I have heard a lot of people have it at the 25 spot for 20htz I believe. Im probably wrong though.

I am using a pair of sealed 12s made by Robot Underground. I usually keep my Sub Sonic at 30Hz since most of my music does not go below that.

I set the Q at 45Hz & 2.7 because that is where it sounds great with these particular subs. When I swap, I reset it all doing it by ear. You can try it at 45Hz and 1.6 which is the halfway point of both. Play music you know well and sweep the Frequency to see where it sounds better.
