And I never said what I believe is right...but the way everyone attacks religion around here, I guess they are sure they are right on that score. Well, as I say all the time, life on this planet is short, eternity is a very fucking long time. I'm sure you will figure that out eventually.

idk where you got off thinking that i was implying that science is a religion. i just said that "some people" (not any particular person) believe that all of those theories are the end all and that kind of seems to take a lot more faith in what people are theorizing than just believing that a higher power created life. i do see people arguing that atheism is a religion because you "believe" that there is no God. I wasnt implying that either. you extremified my statements and made up my mind for me in order to argue a point that you brought up. this will in turn decrease your credibility in the discussion if you think about it. I know you have done your research and youre a deep rooted believer in what you believe. As am I. I am a devout christian. I attend church and tithe. I try to exhibit classy behavior in public. I have never tasted an alcoholic drink. Never smoked anything, dont cuss, and am kind and willing to help anybody in need. these are all characteristics that anybody of any belief should display anyway so its not like am a bible banger or Jesus freak because of the way I act.. But, if God is up there watching and paying attention to what I am doing, I am at least trying to lessen the amount of poor decisions made in my life and you can't rightfully argue that my behavior is wrong or stupid. Science will always answer questions, prove or disprove theories, and keep our world advancing and I love the fact that it does this. I am a mechanical/automotive engineer and science has always fascinated me. As far as these Jewish stories go though, they have not yet been disproved and your evolution theories have not yet been proven so ill keep on with what im doing. even if the singularity theories are correct, something made it happen and that has not yet been figured out so ill go ahead and believe that God made it happen. Its whatever and in the end, neither of us will change our minds or anything, but at least understand what i am about before making acusations and comparisons.

Ninja: Also, Im cool with agreeing to disagree as well of course. we can both go on and on in debate and im honestly to lazy to type that much again. Ya boy has some "meet the robinsons" to watch so ill be for a bit.

Im not saying science is the end-all be-all, Im pointing out the difference between science and religion to someone who wishes to equate his completely faith based religion as equally as plausible as verifiable scientific testing.

If you want to back peddle, that's fine. But dont pretend you didn't say things you did say.

And you still dont appear to understand the distinction. Science NEVER asks ANYONE to believe ANYTHING based on faith. Nope, not even 'theories'. Theories, as defined by science and scientists, is unproven. Unproven means 1) go prove it, or 2) go prove it wrong. Religion, yours and everyone elses, is based on an entirely different concept: faith. In other words, religion offers 'theories' that can never be proven, and demand you accept these theories (as fact) based on nothing more than faith.

You used the word 'faith' to describe believing in something that even science claims may or may not be true. You used the word 'religion' to describe following the principles of scientific verification. And now you want to know where I got the idea you are implying science is a religion? You didn't imply it, you flat out stated it, and attempted to reinforce your opinion with hopelessly flawed examples.

That all being said, Im glad to agree to disagree. I have no illusions Id change your mind, no matter how convincing my argument would be (or even no matter how true and verifiable). Im not trying to put down religion, God or even Faith. Truth is, I dont know if God exists or not. All I KNOW is what I can test, verify, and conclude myself. If you want to leave this at agree to disagree, Im more than happy to. I respect your faith and your choices, even if I dont agree with them. And I much prefer your approach of lets agree to disagree better than I do 6crnbnh's attitude of sarcasm and feigned outrage.
