Hi All,
First & Foremost I'd Like to say I'm somewhat new to all this stuff, I know the basics (Hooking things up, etc), But my issue is that I have a Jeep Wrangler '01, and As I'm sure you may know, space is very limited.
Currently I have two amps (A Kicker ZX850.2, and a Kicker ZX700.5) , Right now, the ZX700.5 is in the Jeep.
I'm in the middle of a transition though, I did have the ZX850 in there powering 2 kicker 10 inch subs, It sounded alright, but the box was crammed in-between the hatch and the back seat. (I'll attach some photo's of the box to this thread).
The Box isn't ported or anything like that, -Again this is where I'm clueless, I dont know much about proper space requirements, What porting does, etc.
I have an old kicker Comp VR here, it's 15 inches, And I decided to take it out in the Jeep and set it up with the ZX700.5, It sounded great, it turned a lot of heads thats for sure. But the enclosure that sub is in is just huge, and the sub also has an issue dropping in and out, like I said, I was just experimenting around.
Anyways, What I would like to find out is..
1) The hatch in the back of the jeep has about 8 inches between the back of the backseat, and the hatch. I am really looking to get some good bass out of my install, And need to know which sub/enclosure I should get.
I did take the 15 inch kicker out of its enclosure, and just position it in the hatch of the Jeep to see what space would look like with just the speaker alone (If i could build a custom enclosure for such a speaker) and it turned out to be about an inch free. I can move the back seat in the jeep up about 2 inches, maybe 3 at the most if i really need to.
I looked at the Pioneer iB Flats a little bit, and I looked at some of the shallow mount kicker subs, but after hearing what that kicker comp vr 15 inch sounded like, It really makes me want to move more-toward something that's 15 inches, and will still work alright in that small amount of space I have to work with.
This is the Sub I was experimenting around with:

And here is my old enclosure, which I plan to replace with a 15" (Hopefully) mono sub.

I have a pretty good budget to work with here, so money shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Thanks guys! And I look forward to seeing everyone around on the forums!
