jeep grand cherokee big 3 help

i am doing the big 3 steps on 96 jeep grand cherokee and i was wonder where be the best spot to ground the engine on my jeep and its a straight six engine and do i have to add a fuse to the postive wire to the alternator
I think I did mine on the side frame, the ground cable was literally 4 inches long.

It may have been next to the battery too, but I do remember the ground cable was really short.

i have a '96 ZJ too, but its the V8.

the engine ground was right on top of my engine, like dead center. theres like a metal rod for the origninal ground, i just added on to that. the wire is very short, like already said. mine was like 8" at the most, but again, this is on the V8.

HTH

Oh, and to answer about the fuse...

Its always best to add fuses to power wires to be safe, you don't want your car to catch on fire....

But if you cut the wire to length and run it along the factory path then you should be OK. But if youre worried then just do it.

the factory wire did not have a fuse to the alternator

nah, from alt + to battery doesn't need a fuse. You don't really need to protect the battery from too much amperage the way you need to protect your lights or PCM.

then why everybody saying i need one or it could catch the car on fire

well on the right side of my stright six engine it has a bolt that bolt right on the engine block that holds up the oil dip stick could i add a ground wire there and add to the frame since it closer there

you don't need a fuse ANYWHERE if your wires never short out

but when your wires short out, you'll be happy you had it fused //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I personally fuse right off the battery when going to the alternator, might cost extra money, but wont cost as much as a car fire

Hell your headlights aren't fused to protect your headlights from blowing out.. They are fused to stop your wires from burning up

/old post my bad
