Kenwood - no AM reception

Hi all,

I have just had an old Kenwood KDC 6070R head unit fitted into my car (a friend gave it to me as I couldn't afford a new one). The CD works fine, as does the FM radio, but I have no AM reception at all. Seeking finds no stations, and if I manually go to the frequencies I know that they are on, I get static.

I really need the AM to listen to the football, so this is quite annoying! Does anyone know why this might happen, or how I could fix it? Like I said, the FM is crystal clear so it seems a bit strange to me. I did notice that the radio says 'DAB' and I have an analogue antenna (older car) but I can't see why FM would work and not AM, I would have thought you'd get both or nothing?!?!
