HERE COMES A NOOB QUESTION..... I Apologize in advance!

Ok im bored tonight, and figured id put up some pics. Im trying to get ready for MECA finals this weekend so I decided to get my jeep all pretty and my ugly *** SPL install done. So take a look and ask away.

I have never seen a sub burn like that. Does the voicecoil just get SO hot it literally catches on fire then the cone burns? The most power I have ever put to any set up of mine was about 1000W and tho the amps were hot, I dont remember the sub showin' that kind of heat. WOW!

so that's what it takes to make 157-9 Db... impressive with one sub.

Good question actually, the voicecoil did not fail on this sub. The voicecoil is supplied by Precision Econowind so its a good part....what failed was the winding on the tinsel lead, it became unwound and failed then created enough heat to ignite the woven spider leads. I have the opinion that it was bad design, but it could of just been plain old mechanical failure. The damage was so severe it was hard to really tell for sure.....it took forever to get that smell of burnt spider out of my jeep //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

ewwww.... I know about the smell... I worked in an industry where it was common to see 220V capacitors "popped"--- gawd that smell is aweful and you cant get it out of your nose!

Perrrty jeep. Rims arent my choice but hey if I got them like you and they fit, I'd put them on too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif.

burnt spiders smell ALOT worse than 220v capacitors blowing... ur thinking of the smell when a amp fails... which isnt a bad smell compared to the smell of burn spiders/spider glue... take a grinder to basket and smell away

So since its a day later any new numbers on the TL yet?
i think he did a 154.7 yesterday, but he told me the tls were acting funny and he couldnt find his right frequency...
