I bought two of these and was running them around a thousand watts rms to each in a cubic foot box and they blew after two weeks of short term use. My cone came completely of the casing. What is a good rms amount of power to use on these subs. I have been waiting for a month for a replacement and I decided that I would put them in a ported box hoping it would make a difference. Any suggestions

just a one cube box??? id go look up the spec of the sub and see what it wants, id be willing to bet it wants more then a cube.

you must be doing something wrong because these things are built like a tank. they can take up to 2500 rms 5000 peak. maybe you were clipping

those subs are built like a tank for sure, but are only rated for 700rms per 12. And the recomended sealed enclosure is 1.0 cube.

Sounds like you exceeded the mechanical limits of the sub. They will probably reach their excursion limit with less than 700 watts, too. Especially in a sealed box.

Where do you get those rms ratings. I called JBL in NY and they did not recommend that I give them any more than 900 watts rms. What do you mean by clipping and what causes it. I am new to these high power systems. If you want to say 2700 watts RMS is high.
