JBL subs - worth a crap?

I know their GTI subs are pretty good but the question lies

The guy at my local shop today was taklin to me and is attempting to talk me into two 10's to go along with my Orion 1200d

Two of the Power series JBL's with 1600w written accross the front, I believe it's like 1020 series, or something to that extent.

Anyone have any feedback on them? He swears up and down that two of them in a decent setup will give me a solid 140+, and sound awesome at the same time. I don't know jack chit about JBL other than their amplifiers, so I'm asking, anyone?

Advice please, if possible

I'd like to add that quality is preference here

That's the model number on it, and considering that it's a local shop - the fact that he's willing to sell me two for 350 isnt all that bad, even though they're 10's

That'd run my Orion at 2ohms, giving all the wattage they'd need

Opinions, please?

But I've not read much about JBL subs and I'm curious, because if chit goes as planned I may just let him do what he's saying and build the box how he's talking

He said he'll only build the box to the manufacturer's recommendations unless I ABSOLUTELY require it be built to my specs.

Was quoted that to do my entire car with Damplifier Pro, he'd charge me about 800 in Labor...that sound about right?

same thing i was thinking

i know some of jbl's home audio stuff is pretty good, nothing spectacular but good for the average listener (comparable to the type r for car audio) (oh shit, here comes the flames)

so its 800 for the xxx box (im guessing ported) and the entire car deadened? that sounds really steep to me.

Personally, I ahve experience with JBL's home audio, and depending upon which setup you get, it's very nice...

But rightn ow, I don't give a rats *** about home audio, HELP ME! lol

Right now, I only have the 4002 Orion amp and hopefully my 1200d Orion amp soon, so I still have to purchase the Damplifier pro, The Sub, the boxes and all that, and the JL XR components

Only other place I know of that is worth a chit is about 45 mins away(no biggie) but they cost just as dern much

The shop local is chargin me 50/hour for labor and then the box n all is what I think to be steep

WGTi's have 3000 watts and 5000 watts on the dustcap...

And they managed to win extreme 3-4 this year in dB drag
