JBL GTX500 VS JBL Club 5501 Amp guts video comparison

So I was bored one day and inspired by the amp guts thread. I decided to open up the two very similar JBL mono amplifiers I have and compare them to each other. These both have been tested on a dyno by a member here and they are both under rated by a lot.

Enjoy:

Of the GTX I tested? unfortunately the very quick video I did of it is on my channel (wish I did a proper video to give that amp justice), I wasn't filming my tests really then and only filmed that one because I was selling it at the time.

The infinity kappa k600 version of this amplifier has a subsonic and it’s rated 380/600 for $150 on Crutchfield right now. If you run sealed subs, have an AudioControl line driver/EQ, or a DSP than your all set for the JBL version.

I want the infinity kappa k1000 pretty bad but I don’t think my 100 amp alternator in my CX5 could handle it with the 75x4 and 50x4 amps up front. Does ok with the GTX500 though.

You'd be surprised... The K1000 only drew 111 amps for me... I think if you had a decent AH battery you will be ok with the K1000...

Mmm, I do have an Optima yellow top AGM, we’ll see! Could always de-tune it some too. Then there is the additional wiring needed to feed that monster. Good 4 gauge might be a little resrtrictive at 10+ feet. Of course then my SQ oriented front stage wouldn’t be able to keep up and then I’d be spending more money on that too. Then I’d want better subs than the budget Alpine SWS and FU Audio subs I have now.

Just curious but what is the most efficient amplifier you’ve tested to date? 111 amps isn’t bad for that much power!

The Infinity K1000 has been the best for me since I started testing efficiency by far...
