JBL gti story..HELP!

Okay so i go to my local audio store the other day....just browsing i end up talking to one of the representives..The store carries jbl alpine and infinity mainly....I blew my x-type (coil shorted out) about a month ago so i was in this store looking for something new....i end up talkin for a while and figured for first ill spend the extra cash and get the full warranty and all so i went with the jbl gti 12'' ($499.00)..So i go home and put this sub in the back of my jeep grand cherokee laredo in a 1 cubic foot slanted box(the one i had my x-type in, also the one jbl says to install besides the slanted back)....the gti sub is so big it pretty much is touching the back of the box....i play it a while and decide i want to here the power a little more..I dont crank it all the way or anything prob about half of what its got if that just to hear it thump a little. To my suprise the sub is almost clicking when it hits harder....with the volume turned up the sub clicks almost like its blown. Well for a little backround my x-type did the same thing but only when played at the max....So in the back of my head im thinking oh god it must be this tiny box i have. So i end up going to a closer audio store and installing a 1.50 cubic foot box with slants in the back as well...sounding a little better it still has that crappy click sound. So i go back to the store i bought my GTI at and tell them everything..they sit outside turn about every wire around and try switchin with everything....they check the amp (jbl 1200.1) looks good, check the sub it reads 3.6 ohms..now i know the ohm reading i believe is 3.0 to be running perfectly correct? well anyways the store tried blaming it on the box being slanted so in which the sub wouldnt hit "fully symetrical"....As of the moment they are trying to contact JBL with the problem..Do you have any idea what the problem could be? Im sorry if the story jumps around its late and im really tired but any help would be appreciated.

mainly the box and gains are off. If the sub cant even fit all the way in so its air tight how do u expect it to sound good? If theres are gaps it could be slighly free-airing.

Also I would check ur gains to see if it isnt being clipped.

What online stores carry them? I'd like to look into these as an alternative to the SX12 I was pursuing, as long as they're cheaper... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

invert it.
whats that? ive had two stores change the gains and still the same noise just is a little more noticable when the gains are changed. Also i have a 1.50 cubic box in right now and there is deff. enough room in that box, but in my 1 cubic box that was slanted it was pretty much touching....would the problem be the box being slanted?

no i doin't want to do that....but does anyone know or have heard what this problem could be? id like to know if its the actual sub thats messed up
Invert it and find out. If the same thing happens, then assume it's the sub. If not, assume it's the box and build a new one for further testing.
