JBL GTI 1800 Re Cone

I bought a JBL 1800 GTI on ebay and the guy either stored it wrong but mostly packaged it wrong with packing peanuts on the cone and then magnet side up in the original box. Stretched out the suspension.

So I ordered a re cone kit with the same flatwound copper clad aluminum coil and kapton former that the jbl had, But the recone kit came with a 3" coil cone.

The cone also is not really an 18, the effective area is only 15" diamater 177 in^2.

I will be making a box for it soon. But free air it works great -no noise. It has a very tight gap compared to other woofers I have re coned So I was worried about it rubbing. It might rub once it gets some use, i just cant believe how tight it is. I will be getting some black glue for the dustcap and a Gasket. WTB 18" gasket.
