Sound quality wise, go with the JBL. MTX is like Rockford, great for power, lousy for distortion level. Plus the JBL is more stable (1 ohm opposed to 2 ohm). Now, some people will probably want to argue with me, but I really don't care, have worked with Rockford and MTX long enough now to know that they are not the cleanest of amps when it comes to SQ. I love how the MTX amps have a tendency to coughs and sputters (meaning it overheats way too easily) and the Rockford sings to me (high pitch whinning from almost all of their monoblock amps!)

the JBl should have a little better Sq but I would prefer the MTX because it can give you some serious power for the dollar

i started off with the jbl 600 and then i switched it out with the mtx 6500d and i was alot happier. now i have the 81000 and i love it

can i throw in a vote for the mtx as well, hehe. Mtx amps pack a lot of punch, and sound quality? just as good i guarentee.

the 81000D is a great amp if you can give it the current it needs

Sound quality would probably be better since MTX amps are easier to work with ... JBL amps are kind of annoying to set up ...

i havent used a jbl before but i dont know about that.. i like mtx amps but they **** as far as setting up cus they have no indicators on the knobs as to what frequency or level you are at really.. i mean it doesnt take a genius to get an estimate but still, thats one of there faults.. i guess they just dont want to spend the money to invest in custom knobs and what not.. still though there amps are pretty expensive if you buy them retail.. and they dont come with some of the extras that other amps come with like bass nobs and subsonic filters built in.. as far as pure performance they are good though.

my mtx was anything but forgiving, lol. blew 4 subs altogether.. but one doesnt really count...
