JBL BassPro Shuts Down

Hello. This is my first post. Got a question regarding the JBL BassPro Hub Subwoofer that sits in the spare tire. I am satisfied with it as far as it doing what I wanted and expected. However, I just took a 350 mile trip and was cranking the music, when I noticed the bass rolloff. The sub stopped working. For the rest of the trip, (about 90 minutes) it never came back on. I pull into driveway, shutdown car, unpack, come back about 15 minutes later, pull car in garage, viola, sub works as advertised. I am guessing that this subs amp got too hot and just quit. I had no issues on the initial trip, the OAT was 48 degrees, the return trip was 73. I am wondering if this will become an issue when It really gets hot in summer. Perhaps putting a computer fan in the area would help? or is my unit probably defective? I would think JBL had thought of the heat issue when designing this. Ideas?
