JBL and Crown

Are the companies JBL and Crown the same company or do they just like work together?

cause i see on some JBL car amps the name jbl and then under it it says crown but on crown amps (like dj equipment) i dont see the name JBL.

any reason for this?

They are both a part of Harman International and, from my understanding, the two divisions work closely together on amplifier design. Don't know the last part for sure, though.

i think jbl makes mostly speakers as far as home audio/dj/car audio and crown makes the amps and i think sometimes jbl teams up with crown to make amps. I have never seen or heard of a crown speaker so i guess they dont bother to be in that market.

Harmon International is a HUGE company, JBL, Harmon Kardon, Crown, Infinity, Revel and many many more. If you look at this link it shows all of their companies. http://www.harman.com/

They use the technology that crown has implemented in their amplifiers in their designs sometimes, if you notice not all of jbl's amps incorporate crown tech.

Mostly Crown works on there BPX line amplifiers. And they are awesome amps.

i never knew harmon owned all those companies.

cause i have heard products from jbl,harmon kardon, and crown and they all sounded amazing.

Not a fan of JBL home stuff. Revel on the other hand has some great speakers.

ive got a bpx 1100.1 jbl crown waiting to power 3 ID oem subs.....cant wait till i finally get a box!

before i bought it i heard nothing but good things about the crown amps. i was drawn to it because at any ohm load you see the same power. and because they were practically mint and i got both the 1100.1 and 300.4 for 500 bucks shipped!
