Depends on which comp you enter in. JL holds quite a few SQ titles. It's one of the cheapest real SQ brands out there. So is it still overpriced compared to Brax, Audison, Focal, DLS, ect?

But going back to the context that my original statement was made in and twisted around which led to where we are now: NEWBS & the vast majority of the masses are not after or competing in SQ, so when ppl start asking for opinions about their "dream system" that they heard was the loudest in the world from so and so... = JL does NOT belong there, nor should it be recommended. YES I also agree that if JL wanted to make a killer sub geared towards SPL, I'm sure they could... I NEVER said their products were bad, I said they are OVERPRICED because they ARE, and NOT as LOUD because they're NOT when you are comparing those apples to oranges - ((Popular SPL style subs)) you wanna talk SQ - Fine - YES they are cheap when it comes to SQ, but that's not was I was talking about and that's not what most ppl are after...

JL is a victim of their own success. The name gets tarnished by ingorant fanboys, having way to much lower end inventory.
lmao - You've just got an answer for everything don't you? BTW I've installed & heard PLENTY of properly set up JL subs in my day bud... YES they all sounded GR8, but there are PLENTY of subs out there for CHEAPER that will get just as loud, and some wayy louder... Your average daily listener doesn't even have the proper setup to go after strictly "SQ" anyways, so my position has NOT changed on this... I will NEVER recommend their subs to an average daily enthusiast due to the fact I can get them into something that will give them what they are looking for with a wayy smaller price tag... I'm NOT bashing JL, but peeps who THINK JL is the BE-ALL END-ALL sub of ALL subs are WRONG!!! Would I ever run JL - YES, I would again and I have in the past, but NOT in a vehicle I expect to be the loudest around just because I spent more.....
2 13s on only 2000 watts doing 50s at 30hz in a pt cruiser.
& I'd be willing to bet that it also sounded good doing so, however 50s in an open pt (basically a hatch) could be accomplished by spending much less than $1,600 + or - (Depending on where you buy) on JUST 2 subs, (Not 2 mention what you will spend in addition to that to get there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) but still that is impressive for a set of 13's on 2k most definitely I'd have to agree, no argument there whatsoever...
I agree, JL has nice SQ.. but is far from the best bang for your buck when it comes to SPL.
