Ive Got A Few Questions

ok ive got a great system in my car. but lately its been draining power like crazy. so heres my question.

if i wanted to add another battery to my car what all would i have to do?

how would the battery stay charged?

how much time is required in this type of install?

ill post more here as i think of some....

you would need some wire a 2nd batt. and a isolator.

you would hook the battery to the other battery or straight to the alternator

it will only take however long it takes you to pull the wires.

If you wire a second battery to your existing one in parallel, you basically now have the electrical equivalent of a single large battery with double the amp-hour rating (the reserve capacity to drive a load for a period of time).

It is a larger strain on your alternator, though...but as long as it's not a 60A model or so, you should be fine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what i was wanting to do was buy a yellowtop for under the hood and hookup my system and accs to a marine (deepcycle) battery in the back

is this possible without crapping my alternator and i think its 120 amp i beleive...

Should be fine.

Just make sure to run heavy-gauge wire back to the second battery...2awg or 1/0.

1. You'd need a fuse anywhere it passes through metal, so yes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

2. Parallel wiring is wiring the positive of the new battery to the positive of the existing one, and doing the same for the negatives...series wiring would be running the positive of one to the negative of the other, which doubles the voltage (= not a good thing in this case).
