It has begun *New Design and Build (pics)* USACi SB-1

Ok, well my new SPL build is in its prelim stages. Designs are being calculated up and various components are being ordered and obtained. This thread is going to pretty much be the central area for posting my build pics ans design plans. Im going to be needing some suggestions, so feel free to comment. First up what ill be working with for the 06-07 USACi season.

EQUIPMENT

SUB-2006 Fi car audio BTL 12" full cooling (will also be a daily sub) 3rd mag, and hi Xmax coil

TEMPORARY AMP-Orion 1200D possibly at .5 ohms TBD if it will handle it, but if not other things will have to be setup to run it temp on this amp

FUTURE AMP-Probably going to be going with a solid amp that does i2500-3k @ 1 Ohm looking at a Memphis MCD-2500 (Memphis' new 2500 watt amp) 20.1 is out being that I will be needing an amp that does more power at 1 ohm. and USAC is gay about class ratings so instead of going after either SS 0-300 or 301-900 Im going to be a Street Beat competitor in SB 1.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM-Im pretty stout right now with my 250 amp alt (USACi allows the car to run while testing) and my G31 optima. but im hoping to get aonther optima and run it as a spare.

WIRING-will be 4 runs of 1/0 or possibly 2/0 (im an overkill guy) and of course 8Ga. Speaker wire 8 Gauge of course.

BOX-This is the Tricky part, because as many of you know this is going in a single cab truck so I have a few options and here are the Design pics (still in a semi-2D form, because of ease of explaining them)

Box 1-Standard L-shaped port, but im concerned with that huge "tunnel area" that runs between the port wall and the front baffle, might cause some air flow issues, anyone that wants to comment feel free, this is kinda like a poll pick which one you like

Specs...2.25 @ 36 with 43.75 Sq inches of port

BTL1.png

Box 2- dual L shaped ports clears up the long tunnel, but im not familiar with running dual ports with one sub and might be also concerned with air flow...again pic which one you like

Specs...2.6 @ 37 with 68 Sq inches of port

BTL2.png

Tunning will be adjusted eventually to where each box will be around 2.2 or so at or around 35 Hz.

OTHER MISC stuff-HU will be my CDA-9855.

Stay tuned for updates, equipment should be showing up by the end of this week or beginning of next.

THANKS

Clif

Wow man! I am subscribed for sure on this one. Nice choice on equipment. I just ordered an Fi sub as well, but is the 12" Q. Looks like your gonna have a hell of a street beater. Have you thought of a blow through or are you a really small guy? Good luck with what ever you decide.

not a small guy by all means....im 6' 235 pounds...I just sacrafice for audio. and a blow through is a no no, cant destroy the trucks resale value.
Man you are a diehard audio junkie then.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I know I couldnt do it, but too each its own. One thing is for sure I betcha it will sound *****ing once you get that Memphis amp, which I would suggest. A guy at the audio shop I am getting my car done at his 4 15" Mojo's off 2 of those and he is almost at 160 dbs on certified TL mic.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif **** was crazy loud! Couldnt sit in it for more than 30 seconds and I was jumping out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

nG probably will end up using 3 4 inch aeros...just gotta orderthem. they will be side firing into the side of the cab...and Louisiana CRX should be a fun season competing against you, shooting initialy for high to mid 140s and after testing with Justin and Doug (Jntar and DjMan) I should get a little louder.

yah man, your gunna have to ut up a higher number than 140's to win shows. It should have the potential to break 50's with the right box. I may do a few usaci sb2 shows, but the state record here for what i can tell is a low 140, lol. Im pretty sure I can beat that haha

Good luck on the build, hope its loud as the equipment you are running is more than enough.

150s...nah the only guy in SB1 thats over a 50 right now...That I can think of is Louisiana CRX (happens to be the guy thats in First place currently, and has the highest number in SB1). Other local guys are in the low 40s maybe some mid 40s. I should be fine after my new amp(s) come(s) in.

I'm 5th in the nation in SB1, with only one 10" and one amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

And that 147.3 was on my 2nd run. Everything was extremely hot and boy was I cooking that type-r. Haha. I'm surprised I didn't blow it.
