Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong area, I just joined here to ask a specific question;
About a week ago I blew my somewhat new alpine type R's.
They're the 2 ohm 2012's. I have them hooked up to a hifonics gladiator 2200 watt amp.
I dont turned my subs up loud because I have only a 60A fuse breaker.
I was driving, not doing anything unusual. My music was actually playing quieter than I usually play it at, when my subs just got quieter, which I thought was odd, but didn't think too much of it.
Then my battery meter starts dipping way down and my headlights nearly dimmed completely out, so, I turned my music off.
Later on I drove again and tried turning them on- got nothing.
So I looked at the fuse breaker, it was fine, then looked at the subs.
One sub's cone is completely detached from the rubber surround.
The other is blown. Scratches when I push down on it.
But how can that even happen if these subs are rated at 300-1000 watts rms each, with a max of 3k watts? In addition, my fuse breaker only being a 60A?
I got the subs from sonic electronics.
They don't cover blown subs. But I just don't see how they could've blown.
They were definitely installed correctly.
I thought maybe since the cone became detached from the surround, that'd be considered a defect or atleast covered under warranty, and assuming the second sub blew due to the first sub becoming detached.. Maybe they would both be covered?
I mean shouldn't they cover both IF one has a defect and directly causes the other to blow?
