Is this the end of American Dominance?

Leaving Afghanistan the first time without trying to rebuild the country caused this mess in the first place....stupid ***
Look, here is how i view it.

1) we can do the Democrat way. Basically, get the **** out NOW. We leave them without a working government, and in a very shitty situation. They will in turn, hate us more, and probably attack us in the form of more terrorist attacks.

2) we can go the Republican way. Stay in until we turn them into our next South Korea or Israel. Pump resources into it, hope it can come out well. More American's will die over their because we will be their longer, yet their will still be a strong hatred in a minority (or possibly majority) of people for staying that long, and forcing them to conform to our ways. In turn, the radicals will probably attack us in the form of terrorist attacks.

Tell me then which one is the better idea?

We could also pull our 30,000 troops out of korea, and troops in other countries to help speed up things in Iraq.
Yeah, and then Korea will become "unified" after that. Not a good thing.

What is your opinion of the answer to winning this war?
At this point, I don't think winning is really possible. The best situation we can hope for is one where there are no attacks as a result of the US pulling out of Iraq. How will this be achieved? Tough to say, to be honest, but I think withdrawal will be safest when a committed and trusted Iraqi government is in place that the Iraqi people can trust. Meanwhile, either the Iraqi/Iranian relationship needs to be severed or the Iranians need to be made to stop adding fuel to the Shi'a and Sunni internal conflict.

I heard that the REAL reason we are in Iraq is to have and excuse to invade IRAN. I heard that today on some talk show so Its not my own personal opinion.

what was that? tree-hugger news?

well I skipped a lot of what was being said... but the biggest problem is we're in a recession, and it's not showing signs of improvement so call it a depression... I'm definitly not an expert but what I'm hearing that is causing this is our increased fear of spending our money.

By not spending money, companies aren't making money (profits) and in turn cutting back employees (no money to spend on employees) so that leaves people now with less money/unemployed... It's not like if I go out tomorrow and spend all my money that the recession will end but most of it is about us being to cheap and tight with our money... and that's a natural reaction to a recession.

I don't even know where to begin on the problems that George Bush was a part of or caused... It sucks that he wasn't a good president but add that to the fact that he became president in one of the worst (in my opinion) times for the US and you got problems.

Our country is also falling victim to these oil companies and the oil companies are strategically raising their prices at high rates but not too high at one time to make us find alternative options. They are brilliant in finding a way to squeeze every last dollar out of our pockets with not making it look too bad. Small increases every week, and week by week it only looks like "oh well, I only have to pay a few cents extra this week compared to last week", but eventually it adds up and we're now paying way too much and accepting it.

These are just 3 things that we hear a lot about around here causing this recession (and I think this is our biggest sign of weakness) which in turns causes many problems in the country and is making the US look much weaker but I still feel confident that this won't last more than a few years (which seems long but will be ok when the US is back to where it was).

There are times throughout history where great powers must rise to an occasion to meet a challenge. In the last 1800's it was the Industrial revolution and in the 30's it was Hitler. In the 80's we took on communism. We are now confronted with increased competition through globalization, an aging population whom will have great healthcare demands, and a fleeting energy supply.

This is our opportunity to rise to the occasion and show greatness. I would think if any country can do it, we can.

Exactly, I think he did a fine job as president for what he had to go through.
