sorry if i am in the wrong section.

My buddy just bought a new impala and our build plans were going to be 2 RE SE 12's with a US Amps MD1D but he got impatient and didnt want to wait for the stuff to be shipped, so he went and found a place selling brand new JLW3V3-4's for $200 OTD. So then we ended up not having enough to buy a JL500/1 so we hit up craigslist and found a local kid selling some Memphis 1000 watt mono amp for $190 so we snagged it. Now is this way too much power for these W3's? I dont want to blow them, also what gauge wire should we run with this amp, and what should we fuse it at? I am pretty sure this is the amp. Its at my friends house so i cant look at it, but im almost positive.

The W3's can't handle much power so I'd suggest keeping the gains low on the Memphis. Your friend should have definately went with the SE's, they would have matched up perfectly with that amp, gotten louder, and sounded just as good. I'm actually going with 3 SE's for my next setup.

w3v3's will get a little stinky if you put the memphis at full tilt so I second watching the gains

one amp should work well for both subs. just a suggestion, but look into some dd 2512's. they will killer on 1k each and would pwn the re's though the re's are a little less expencive i think.

just my .02 but the w3's should be fine.

The w3v3 series is rated to handle 500 watts RMS for the 10s and 12s while the 13 is rated to handle 600 watts RMS. Hell, I ran 1000 watts RMS to a pair of 10w3v2s and they still work. Of course for the time I ran them with 1000 watts RMS, I thought they sucked royal balls with .75 cubic foot sealed per 10....

well we kept the gain about half way and it thumps pretty hard. so i think it will work out just fine.
