Is this possible, and how would i do it?

I own an xplod 1000 watt amp and i am thinking of ditching my 2 american bass xo 12s and getting an american bass TNT 1244 , it is a dual 4 ohm subwoofer, i was wondering if it would be as loud or louder than my current setup? or even possible? Thank you!!!!! Mctscott123
Possible how? It'll make sound. Are those 12s in a prefab box? Are they currently wired at 1 ohm? If so, just having the 1 TNT, you will be running at 2 ohm, so you're losing output there. I also don't know how many real watts that amp puts out. Unless you're planning to pretty much scrap everything and really upgrading, switching subs won't get you anywhere.

well id have to figure out an alternator for my car that can handle more output, but my XOs are wired at 2 ohms currently, i believe i wired them in a series parallel? The box i basically made myself to fit my trunk to the snuggest i could, it is a little small to the specs that are recommended for my subs

Are you sure they're wired to 2 ohms? I see they're each dual 4 ohm, so you can wire them to 1 ohm or 4 ohms. Are you looking for more output?

im not 100% sure really, as i said i am very new to this, as in the last couple months, they are wired to a series parallel but that is the most that i know
Can you describe what you're looking for? Louder? What music do you listen to? Do you want more SQ or just something that slams?

Well i would like a little better volume out of it, i just put in new Phoenix Gold 6.5" speakers in the front, and my deck is a Kenwood Excelon KDC-496, i am yet to switch my stock 6x9s in the back also no alternative amp running my speakers...

You gain output from a larger box, so that can be your problem. Also, your amp probably puts out very little power. Which model is it? If you can, dump the stuff off to someone...craigslist maybe. Then start over. Better amp, better subs, better box. You'll definitely also want to amp your front speakers. Hope they're comps, not coaxials.

How much would you sell the whole sub/amp/ box setup for? I would like to keep my deck, but here are the speakers i picked up: productID=131SX65CX - 6.5" SX Speaker - Phoenix Gold (and they are coax) why is that bad?

First, are you able to fit a larger box? You may want to just do a quality 15" in the right box on right power. If you can get $250 out of that, that'd be decent. What kind of a car do you have? Some cars get loud very easily. Check out this setup we put together for my friend's wife:

That's a single 12" on 1000 real watts. Custom box.

You can keep the phoenix gold speakers for the rear possibly and add components in the front, you'll get a much better stage.
