Is this possable or just dumb?

I have a Fosgate Power 1000a4 sitting in my garage along with a 15 inch aluminum Eclipse sub. Neither are being used right now.

My home stereo is very lacking of bass. Is it possible to run the amp and sub off my home system and add some bass to my home system until I put this stuff back in my car. Can the wiring be done? Can I run it from the rca jacks on my reciever to the amp? How could I power the amp?

You would need something that could provide 12 volts DC at the appropriate amperage to power a kilowatt worth of amplifier. (you can't just plug it into a wall socket unless you're actually wanting to see the "magic smoke"!)

That amp is going to want alot of amperage to create high volumes and that much power supply would be prohibitively expensive...

Thanks. Did not realize it would be that expensive to power the amp.
I had a quick look at some Pyramid (crap audio equipment but they make great DC power supplies //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif) units and one that does 40 amps constant with a 50 amp surge capacity lists for over $250USD....and that would not feed a an amp trying to make a kilowatt worth of output...

Just get a large deep cycle battery and a 35$ trickle charger and youre set. I have been doing this with a smaller amp and 15" rockford punch for a while now.
This isn't exactly safe. For you or the amp. An amp of that size will drain the battery fairly quickly and either go into ndervoltage protection (if you're lucky) or go *poof* (if you aren't lucky). For less money than a good power supply (much less) you can get a home plate amp from Parts Express and put the sub to good use.

Not only this, doesn't a battery in use release fumes into the air that are bad for you, or somthing similar? I heard using car batteries indoors was a bad idea.

Also he wouldnt need to use all 1k watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. I still would use my money elsewhere though.
