Is this good speaker wire?

That's $0.24 a foot. Not that great of a deal considering this is stiff home stereo speaker wire. I'd stick with Knu or an equivalent that can be had for pennies more.

Edit: I figured 12 gauge was $0.25 a foot most everywhere, but turns out I was wrong. Not a bad deal, but it's still home stereo wire. Why are you cheaping out on the cheapest part of your system? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

24 cents a foot isn't that good of a deal? Where can you get cheaper? Don't want Knu, they run about 75 cents a foot. Don't need super flexible wire, I want something with a thick jacket that will LAST. This build is going to be quality not flashy.

wrong

Speaker wire will last if you aren't an idiot. How the hell does speaker wire go bad?

KnuKonceptz Monster Blue 12 Gauge Speaker Cable Wire 5' - eBay (item 380292097163 end time Nov-30-10 07:22:18 PST)

$2.75 (5 feet) times 10 = $27.50 (50 feet) plus $5.00 shipping equals...

$32.50 TOTAL

$32.50 divided by 50 feet equals 65 cents a foot.

I'm not concerned about the speaker wire "going bad". I'm more concerned about the jacket not being thick enough and getting torn or ripped overtime.

In-wall wires don't ****, in fact they have to pass all kinds of tests like fire, fum, soaked in oil, non-harmful chemicals, corrosion/oxidation, extreme cold and warm temperature and other stuff so technically they're built to higher standards than standard speaker wires. It also comes with an outer jacket for extra protection.

The only downside of speaker wires rated for in-wall use is its stiffness. It is actually good to have stiffer wire for in-wall because it makes routing/pulling wires through walls easier, stiffer wires also don't move much after the install so the contact usually stays consistent. Stiffer wires are harder to deal with in cars where there are plenty of bends and crap, and some terminals don't grip very well when the gauge of the strand is too thick and they like to come loose.
