Is this AMP a good choice for these subs?

OK so im buying my first set of subs for my car and up until a few days ago i knew nothing.

The subs that I have decided on are two [ Alpine SWS-12D4 ]

They are 500 watt and 4 ohms

The Amp that I am thinking of buying is the [ Hifonics ZRX1200.2 ]

I was told that I should have the amp run in mono mode and wire it with Voice coils wired in series, speakers wired in parallel and this would result in 4ohms which matches up to the amp.

The only thing is that it would be 600 watts to each sub. Can they handle that just fine?

Thankyou for any advice you can provide (=

That is one way to do it...my advice would be to use a class D amp that actually puts out rated power, like the Hifonics GLX 1000, or one that puts out a little less than rated like the Brutus BRZ1200.

I do not see how the ZRX1200, which is class A/B can possibly produce 1200 watts with 80a fusing. Class A/B at 2 ohms MIGHT muster 55 - 60% efficiency in some of the best....and the ZRX is not one of the best. That amp would need 100-120a fusing minimum to actually produce 1200 watts rms at 14.4v

While that amp will work, and the wiring is correct, I would say, like has already been said, a class D mono amp would be a better choice. The only reason I would use the amp you picked is if I planned on using it to amp front channels at a later time.
