is this alpine amp ok?

Hey guys, new to this forum. Me and a buddie are hooking up his 2 mtx thunder 6000 12s. His amp blew and he has an alpine mrd-300 he wants to use. Its a mono amp. I beleive its rated at 300 rms @ 2 ohms. Does this mean each sub will get 125 watts? would this be enough to run them. not winning any competitions, but give decent sound?

Welcome .. Each sub would get 125. I do not know much about the subs perhapse you could provide some info about them for me. but 125 isnt very much for any sub.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

T6124A 12" Subwoofer- 4 ohms, peak power- 500, power handling (rms)- 250/500.

THey are mounted in a sealed enclosure. I think i read that mtx recommends 100-250 watts.

I would look for something closer to 450-500 watts. I used to have MTX 6000's and I gave each of them 330 watts all day and they took it no problem.

What about just pulling out one sub and putting it in a different box, its only going in a ford mustang. dosent have to hit to hard.

You mean just using one sub?Well, if you only used one, you can only get a 4 ohm load, and with that amp, you'll probably only get around 150 watts. It might get it moving pretty good. If you want you can build a ported box, with that little power it will hit much harder than the sealed box.

jbl 600.1 $195 or maybe a profile cl800 $150. those will both give u 600 watts rms at 2 ohms.
