Is this a great idea to save a lot on gas??

If it's safe, go for it.
What's the cost on Pure Acetone and how much would you need per gallon per se?

If I could get 24mpg city out of my truck I bought yesterday, I'd shit. lol
If I rememebr the article I read correctly, its actually about the same, if not worse cost wise

You did read that, but once again it's in conclusive.

Simple math

In my truck, a guy averaged 16-17 hwy before the acetone, with the acetone 22-24, that's using 2oz per 10 gallons if I remember correctly

Anyways, so you figure 5 oz per full tank for the truck(05 f-150), and you're gaining at worst 5mpg.

Let's see

That's roughly 140 miles more using the acetone than without it, per full tank. At worst.

Assuming he actually picked up 6 or 7 mpg, it'd be even greater.

Ten bucks roughly buys you 128 fluid ounces of acetone

Hrm

Therefore I used about 3.9% of my Acetone from my 1Gallon can(A cost of about 45 cents) in order to gain 140 miles to a tank?

Sounds like it's worth it to me

And what it states is that in some vehicles, such as Hondas which get better gas mileage, you wont notice much of a gain. Diesels show a reasonable gain, but not unbelievable. V8 trucks seem to like it a lot as well as v6 motors

I am not doing it, but hey if it works for you, then have at it. I just will dump 50 sum bucks in my tank once a week and call it a day, lol!

Of course I will bish about it though. It is what most us Americans do. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

acetone will eventually eat away at the pistons and rings due to the type of alloys they are made of. not to mention the vapors can break down oils abillity to do its job. if you have a meter in you car to measure mpg, next time you fill up, use a calc. to determin your mpg and see if it is the same as the meter in the car. your plugs and filters have to be in real bad shape for you to get 4-5 mpg just from changing them and that means your not taking care of things like you should. you would also have to loose almost 200lbs to gain the millage he did. and on fuel injected cars, every time you start it, it will dump more fuel for start up than it would use sitting at idle for 2 mins. if its tuned properly. if you keep up on the basic maintance, like you should, and most important-- keep you foot out of the gas!! it will run just fine. my wifes car is a 93 olds with a 3.1Lv-6 with 165,000 miles on it. i have owened it since new and have done all the services when repuired and it gets over 28 mpg hwy with a full soun system. i run an audio and preformance shop here in fla and when that guys car starts smoking, ill be glad to re-build it for him-lol

LMAO

Adding acetone to gas is akin to adding ethanol... it will boost octane.... and because it contains less energy for a given volume your MPG will decrease with the more you add....

Anyone who tells you that adding a few oz of acetone to a tank of gas will increase your milage is blowing hot air up your ***....

x2!!!

Feel lucky, I'm spending around $200.00 a week on gas x_0
Well I am the smart one for picking up a 4 banger with a few mods. So still fast and save money compared to the big boys.

Was funny as just last night some hot shot wanted to get loud about gas prices as he dumped near 65 bucks in his Sonata yesterday. Here I am at 45. I am like ha I beat ya, being all sarcastic and shit, cause he was a loud mouth swearing in front of my kids. He goes, yeah but I would smoke your little focus! I just smiled. Was pretty funny as we both finished the same time. So there I am with my family and I looked at my fiance and she winked and gave me a thumbs up as we were at a red light, well I was behind him. So I whipped past him and heard his engine come to life. Twas funny watching him trying to pass me, which he never did. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
