what should i look for when looking at the coils? what colors are bad? and what if it isnt stiff? he said he'll bring a meter to measure the ohms

look for black or burn marks on the coils .if its not stiff ,then its used ,possibly very used and could maybe use a recone kit

thanks man. as you can see im new to this car audio game, but i am a **** good dealer. i just recently sold a fosgate p1000bd and 2 aq 12s in a probox for 560 lol using that to get this fi. i just hope i dont get burnt cause like i said im new and i can use all the advice i could. im meeting him tomorrow. fingers crossed that i get a good deal!

If you can see the coils look for blueing hook them dmm up to both coils, check spider for tears or seperation and check the surrounds for cracks.

Other than that $270 is a great price. What amp u gonna feed it with?

Really just pushing on the cone to feel if it's rubbing + popping the terminals on each side with a flashlight battery is all you need to know. A burnt coil can often look fine from what you can see without taking it apart. Color of the coil that you can see is typically just what kind of shellac they use on the wire and means little or nothing. Either it works or it doesn't. If the sub pops when you touch a battery to each terminal and doesn't scrape when pushed in and out it'll play. Any other mechanical tears or wear should be visible even to a complete novice.

Tripple stack BTL is decent. I picked one up in here for aound 325 a couple years back. Wasn't terribly impressed, but at 270$ it's a very good value, and they can take some abuse and get loud.

i got it!!! looks good. stiffness is ok but coils and everything else looks good. got it for 270. also got a brand new FI Q 12 fully loaded brand new. stiff as idk what. for 200. and a hifonics brutus 2000 new condition in original packaging for 175! i already have a friend of mine that is wanting to trade me for a mint RE mx d2 15. is it a good trade? or should i post it to sell on here. let me know!

he said its an 08 model. also have another dude trading me an mmats 3500.05 the half ohm stable one. but idk much about those amps either
