is sq really important in a trunk set up?

since you really cant hear the sub for all its worth, would i be better off getting a more slp sub then a sq sub if i were just stick it in the trunk?

jeez, a guy in a truck went by the doctors today, with the door and all the window shut, i could feel the pressure on my ears!!...good god i dont know what he had but jeez!

thats kinda what im looking for

You cant hear the sub in a trunk? I dont know what kinda systems youve been listening to, but when I had my 13W7 in my trunk you could **** sure hear that. The sound waves bounce off the back of the trunk then fire into the cabin, regardless of whether or not the seats are down. In fact sometimes you can hear the sub louder in a car because they are smaller (like my A4). If your lookin for straight SPL though then go with a XXX by RE

well, let me refrase that. you cant hear it as clearly as if you sitting next to the sub? thats just how it seems to me, i could be wrong

my seats cant fold down

i was already looking at the re XXX 15 and a brutus 1500...soon

i just hope it can throw, my passengers out the window when it hits.... heh

the only "bumps" i have to compare to is my 2 pioneer HT 12" subs rated at a total 100 watts(i think) which i can make pictures rattle in the room other side of the wall

and my buddys 2 rf he2 12"s, which are ok, but not enough....

If your lookin for straight SPL though then go with a XXX by RE

lemme add that the XXX is not a STRAIGHT SPL woofer. It has very good SQ.

Ifly - i know what ur thinking when u say do u need to a SQ woofer when its closed off in a trunk. To anser u, first u need to understand what subwooffer SQ is. SQ is the subs ability to accurately hit every bass not cleanly. If a sub has bad SQ then ur gona get real messy/boomy bass. Also different subs put out deeper bass than others. Also some subs will get lower than others for those real low bass notes. That being said yes u need good SQ woofers for ur trunk. I have a Bmw with a metal wall behind the seats. The car is very anti-spl but my subs still pound like hell and sound great.

so basicly what i get from what you said is this: a sq sub will "hit" harder then a then say a total spl sub?

songs that i use to see how hard it hits are like Still DRE and like cowboy by kid rock, they are not really constant viberating bass(such as Big Tymers still fly, never liked that song till i heard it with some bass), more like a boom...boom kinda bass, thats what i like, i really like the feeling of being punched in the back when it hits

im guessing the xxx could do that? the ed 15a i heard has great sqand its like 75 less then the xxx

an All out SPL woofer will get much louder than a SQ woofer obviously. An All out SPL woofer just wont hit the not acurretely. Ull just hear a very loud boom but it wont put out tight clean bass like a SQ woofer would.

For rap songs subs that dont have that good of SQ do ok because the beats are easy to keep up with. But try them out with rock or techno music and ull see why u need a SQ woofer.
