Is "Break in" Really necissary?

Have you ever seen a MOFO right out of the box then compared it to one that has been played for a week. Night and day difference. The mofo's are stiff as $hit when they are brand new.
You are deaf and insane according to some folks here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I assume that you are not though.

We aren't debating that they aren't ready to play, we're debating that the break in period is worthwhile. In some instances, yes, the suspension loosens up, everything starts working together, and it sounds "better", but not always.

What does it matter anyway? Keep playing it, as much as you like, and it'll break in whether you want it to or not.

I like you, you listen..

I only found break in periods to be nessecary when I have subs with really stiff suspension. Most notably BA's and DD 95 series at least from what Ive toyed with. Im pretty sure the BA had a quad layer spider. Stiff as hell

exactly true. More often then not break ins are not required. But like i am saying the MOFO has one of the most stiff suspensions i have ever seen. Then after a week it is as soft as a down pilliow.

Necessary? Ive yet to see proof it's "needed". But I have witnessed subwoofer's suspension loosen up as it breaks in with my own ears, many times, and yes it changed how the subs sounded to me. Some subs more than others, but Ive yet to buy a sub that didn't change, even if slightly, within the first month or so of use. My PPI Pro's, for example, had a pretty dramatic change over the first 3-4 weeks.
