Is my X360 toast?

Well all of the sudden my 360 wont play games anymore, I didn't get the RROD and it will still go to the dashboard but no matter what game I try putting in it will say on the bottom of the screen "unplayable disk". It seems to function normally besides it wont read games or DVD's, does anyone know what might be wrong with it or how to fix it?

Try a cleaning disk your lens may have gotten scratched.

Not sure, and even if it is I lost the paperwork, all I have is the console and the box I got it in. Could I use the serial numbers on the box/console to look up warrenty info? The Microsoft seal has not been broken.

How do I get to it? I am assuming rubbing alchohol on a Q-tip?

You can call the 800 number.. i lucked out and got a 2 year warranty with Bestbuy so if anything goes wrong i can trade it in for a new one.. but with your case.. not having any papers or anything not sure how that works.. maybe someone here has put theirs in for repairs and could give you more info..

Thanks, I got mine from Walmart and it came with an additional 1 year warrenty from them but I am almost sure that I have had it for over a year.

i suggest cleaning the lens also, i had a dreamcast with the same problem.. took it apart.. cleaned the lens.. worked like new..

unless the drive is making weird noises

edit: oh and if its under warranty i wouldnt suggest this, maybe a lens cleannig disc

just send it to microsoft. they are lifetime guaranteed. dont break any seals on the console or they wont take it. they will also reimburse you for the shipping costs.

my xbox 360s dvd drive broke, but i opened it.. i opened in between when they extended teh warranty and mine expired.. i had 2 choices.. send it to MS.. theyll fix it for free.. maybe... theyll fix it for $130 or wahtever... or theyll deny it all together...

or i could of bought the part from hong kong off ebay for $30

ordered it from hong kong, switched the boards in the drive, works fine =]
