Is my X360 toast?

I would have no idea where to even begin doing this, I am not good with electronics.

Do you know something I dont??
360's aren't warrantied for life, nor will they reimburse you for shipping. call xbox. their phone number is on the xbox website..

tell them what the symptom is. they should be able to verify if it is still under warrenty or not. if it's not, then either pay the 120 to get it fixed, or crack it open and try some DIY's. if all else fails and you still don't want to send it in, then just buy a new one.

though, overall, quit wasting time on the forum.. just call................

This. They only pay shipping for the RRoD. Any other warranty work you still pay shipping, like 90 percent of the companies out there.

Well all of the sudden my 360 wont play games anymore, I didn't get the RROD and it will still go to the dashboard but no matter what game I try putting in it will say on the bottom of the screen "unplayable disk". It seems to function normally besides it wont read games or DVD's, does anyone know what might be wrong with it or how to fix it?
Drive went out. It'll cost $50 bucks to get a new one... that's what happened to me. :\

I haven't gotten the drive yet. Whenever i have the money, I blow it on stupid ish, like Gas... and food. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

ALSO NOTE:: It's not simply just replacing the old drive with the new one. You have to find a certain part of the drive's BIOS, and then swap it with the new drive so that it shows the mobo on the Xbox that it's the original drive, so it will function. If not, it won't work properly.

xbox is a piece of shit, just got off with microsoft about 10 minutes ago because mine just locked up in the menu of a game, hadnt been on but like 30 secs and i get a loud beep and the 3 red rings, this is the 2nd fucking time for this to happen, i dont even play it that much, maybe once or twice a month for 15-20 minutes, i like my forza 2

i would be pissed at a 2nd time, but i have my PS3 this time, which is actually a good console, so im not too worried now

cliffs: XBOX 360 is a Piece of Shitz

Well I just got off the phone and they aren't going to do jack shit for me unless I pay $130 to get it fixed, the warrenty did expire. So I figure it will end up being cheaper to just buy a new console off of e-bay and sell mine for parts since I would have no idea how to replace the disk drive in mine. I have a few questions.

First what do you think I could sell mine for?

Second I have read about something called a falcon chip, what is it, what does it do, and is it worth it?

if you have a dmm you could open it up and do whats called the pot tweak. you turn the resistance of the dvd laser pot down but it doesnt last for ever and after a while you will still need a new drive and some one to flash it with your original key
heres a tutorial: http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/tutorial/XBOX_360_POT_CALIBRATION_V1.0_by_Moda.pdf
I have no idea what any of that means lol, but thanks for the link, I have a aunt who is pretty good with electronics, maybe I can get her to do it.

i believe this is what i had to do. mine did the same thing

x x rb lb x x

then it will bring you to a screen and you need to have it scan for non working files or something. i forget what i had to do after that but i think thats the code to get you into the system.

just turn on the 360 without a game in it and when you at the dash board you wanna do that in the far right tab, i think its options or settings or something.

but there is an 1800 number to call, it may take 20 minutes but i had the same problem, called them, and told them the problem. 20 minutes later it was fixed as good as new.

give em a call. it cant hurt
