Is my amp powerful enough for this sub?

Right now I have an Alpine PDX 1.600 amp. On the birthsheet it's rated at 665W RMS.

I have ordered one of these subs:

I just wonder if the amp is powerful enough, or if I should upgrade. I don't need it to be extremely loud, I'd be very pleased if I could hit 125db SPL. Oh, this will be going in the hatch area of a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3.

One more question, I have already did the Big 3 wiring upgrade, but I was wondering if I should invest in a new battery? I was thinking of getting an Optima Yellow top.

Here is a review on that amp I came across.

"This amp makes silly power. I have two pdx 1.600 each running to two 12'' Type X's thats enough said. i would highly recommend this amp to anyone who wants to step their game up. system makes 167.6 db, any more bass and you will have to change your diper."

But seriously, If I was to take a wild guess and you pulled up to a meter with that I think you would hit your goal of 125 db's. If not with a little tweaking you could.

I just upped my battery system and it drops about 1 volt less when I crank it now. 2 Kinetik 1800's.

Yeah that guy is smoking crack, if he did 167db he'd have a wall full of trophies the size of a Wal-Mart Supercenter. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

125db is good enough for me, it will be reasonably loud inside the car, but won't attract attention from cops I hope.

I'm guessing you have 1 of those Kinetiks under the hood & one in the rear? I only want to replace the battery under the hood since the box in back will take up enough space as it is.

No, I just added both in back temporarily to go to a local competition. I'll be putting both in my other car shortly. One in back and one in front.

Yea there's definetly no way that guys hittin in the 160's with 2 12's. And 1200 watts. He definetly hittin the pipe. But to answer your question you'll be fine with the pdx on the kicker sub. While it won't quite give the kicker all it can handle, it'll be close enough. So I would save my money and not worry about having to upgrade for a while. Also you should be close to your goal of 125 db's with that combo. Should sound great!
