is my amp done for?

Within the past month, my Viper d1200 has been acting funny. It's powering my subs and a few weeks ago it started going into protection mode, then it'll go back to normal and push my subs pretty hard. Then the switch from protection to normal became more consistent and now the amp stays in protection mode.

Here's what I've done to diagnose the problem-

1) Disconnected RCA's to see if that was the root of the problem; protection light remained on.

2) Disconnected speaker wires coming from subs; protection light remained on.

3) Took a voltmeter to all the wires to make sure nothing was grounding out and everything is a-okay; except for the fact that the protection light is on.

4) Checked all the fuses; everything is fine.

5) Took out HU to take a look at the root of the remote wire; seems to be alright.

6) Took apart the amp to see if anything obvious was wrong. Here's where I thought I found the problem. I BARELY noticed a speaker thread across the 2 terminals for the battery and ground, which apparently connected the 2 terminals, took that lil thread off, wired everything back up, and the protection light remains on.

*Another note - While the protection light is on, the green power light is flickering, don't know if this information has any significance, but I thought I would share.

Here are some pics of the guts on the Viper 1200, maybe some of you amp experts can find something wrong.

..what the hell is wrong with my amp guys

Same thing happened to my Viper. The first time it played fine then the amp was so hot that I could barely touch it and it was only wired to 2 ohms. Then everytime after that when I would turn the amp on the would constantly switch from protection to power with this clicking noise. I ended up getting rid of mine. I did a search on the forum and others had this problem too and people said the amp was blown. I know mine was a refurb from Ike and the amps in the other post I found were also refurbs from Ike. By the time I installed my amp the warranty had expired so I was fvcked. This time around I'm getting a brand new amp, I'm not messing with the refurbs anymore.
