Is my amp dead?

Today I was finally able to install my speakers and amp. Which is a Phoenix Gold 4.0:2 2 Channel amp. So I hook everything up, turned my car on and amp doesn't turn on. I rechecked everything. Still nothing. I'm using 8 gauge power and 8 gauge ground. In the manual, it says 8 gauge is the min. So did I get a dead amp?

If you checked all the wiring then maybe so. Be sure ground is tight, remote is connected and you have the fuse inline.
I checked the ground atleast 4 or 5 times. Same with the remote wire. But is there anyway to find out for sure it is dead?

check with a voltsmeter see if youre actualy getting a 12v signal at the remote terminal.

if you dont have a multimeter just use a small piese of wire from the 12v terminal to the remote terminal that should turn your amp on.

So I checked everything over after the did that. And there was still nothing. So I checked the fuses. Both the inline fuse and the fuse on the amp were blown. I have no idea how that happened but okay. I hooked it all back up and connected my left side speakers to it and it was nice. Very clear sound. Can't wait until I finish installing everything. I'll have to do that tomorrow after work.
