i have been thinking about going with mb quart premium series 10" subs and components, but i was told that i should just buy something cheaper like alpine type r. are mb quart speakers really that much better than everything else. i am really focused on sq, but i am willing to sacrifice a little to save a lot of money. if there is a big difference then i am willing to spend the extra $$$$$.

Talk to jlaine about the Premium series subwoofers. I believe he had some thoughts on them a while back.

If it makes a difference, I was considering them for this years sound quality setup.

Some people love the speakers, some hate them. If at all possible, listen to them before you purchase. Listen to as many different component sets as possible actually. You can form some sort of opinion on what you like and don't like, and go from there. Who knows, maybe a $150 set will sound better to you than a $300 set.
