All people generally accept a particular theory as valid until that theory is disconfirmed.

That is simply human nature. Even their refusal to be amenable to that disconfirmation is only natural. It happens >99% of the time.

You can view that as the fault of the person you are proving wrong, but personally, given the information, I'd view YOU as the asshat for refusing to understand the simple process of human communication.
