Is It Just MY Experiences?

I dont get it. Damm-near every car i've been in, the factory stock speakers had way more midbass than the "Brand Speakers" ive heard. Why is that?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

It was the same in my car aswell. My stock speakers had significantly more midbass than my Infinity speakers that I replaced them with. And even some Polks that I tried out. Im almost tempted to go buy some more factory speakers and toss my Infinity speakers, lol. The only thing is the Infinitys have some AWESOME vocals and highs...absolutely beautiful. If they just had the midbass of my stock speakers i had, they would be top notch.

And if it IS just MY experiences and not the norm, than can some of you please recommend some Brand Speakers I can buy that have good midbass?

I will surely appreciate it. Because I'm not one of those guy'z that just blast a million decibals of sub bass and have totally absent or drowned out midbass. I like my music as balanced as I can get it.

Thanx in advance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

Did any of the cars have an amp powering the aftermarket speakers, or were they just hooked up to the headunit?

Mine did, yes. I'm not sure about the other car's i've been in though.

But still, my Infinity's and my Polk's were/are powered with every bit of their RMS rating and still cant touch the factory speakers in midbass response.

well most factory systems are designed to cover the full range of frequecies, aftermarket systems let subs handle the lower notes... i had to actually make small sealed fiberglass boxes in my doors for my mids to get the output i was looking for...

also, factory speakers probly don't have X-overs, comps do..

Speakers do not think, therefore they do not let the sub do anything.

The xover in most aftermarket comp sets only filters the signal between the mid and tweeter, they do not block bass. Today most people seem to rely on active filtering, either in their amp, their eq/processor, or their h/u to do the HP duties on their comp set.

The vast majority of comp set mids are designed to run IB. Sticking them in small sealed enclosures can only hurt their low-end potential. Unless you have dedicated midbass up front to handle those responsibilities, Id recommend losing the sealed enclsoures, changing them to aperiodic, or possibly venting them depending on the driver.

Yes, decent factory systems tend to have very good midbass. The speakers generally are very lightweight and efficient but dont have alot of potential for what we consider loud due to lack of linear displacement. Most factory speakers Ive looked at that displayed good midbass had very little excursion, but alot of cone area.

My Dodge Ram had 6x9's in the doors that hit a distortion threshhold rather quickly (some due to the amp), but showed very good midbass up until that point. I think to get that sort of midbass while acheiving higher output capabilities, you have to go with dedicated midbass drivers.

subs=bass

why do people expect to get so much bass out of speakers, they have midbass, but arent meant to provide bass like a sub, they provide great highs, mids, vocals, and crisp clear sound, while with a factory speaker you get lows with terrible highs and mids and no clarity and distortion and sound like poop

id take Polks or Infinitys over factory paper garbage any day

thats my .02
