Strictly speaking about subs and speakers. I haven't personally owned one of their amps. I heard one but it was in a crappy install, so I won't hold that against them.

I have nothing but cars and a garage full of them. If done properly, speakers can sound good too. However, my RF mids sound much better than comparable Kicker mids. Subs sounded pretty good when done right.

For the people who put JL in the same breath as new kicker and fosgate (You are retarded). On that not i am not a huge jl fan but to say there equipment is bad is crazy and that there are many things out there that are better is crazy. Yes they are a mainstream brand but their products are good. The w6 on a sound reproduction level i will put them up 2 any sub on that level.

to call j/l overpriced in most cases is actually false. If your saying you can get a sub that can handle more power and more watts, thats true.

And you've just stated the reason why most forum goers dislike mainstream brands. Nearly all mainstream consumers have no clue what is going on. They simply listen to marketing and do no research. That is not limited to this hobby, either.

It's not necessarily that more underground companies have better performance (which IS true sometimes) but price point is more of a factor why I don't usually buy from mainstream brands. Less marketing = less overhead = cheaper prices
