I'm an SQ guy and I don't nuthug JL. If you've got money to throw away, sure, JL's decent stuff, but for less you can have just as good and sometimes better.
Brands I'd pick over JL without question:

McIntosh

Zapco

Zed

Zuki

Arc Audio

Adire

RE (for old XXX)

PPI (Phantom series amps)

and some of the others won't touch JL. Examples: That PPI amp versus JL HD (quality wise). RE XXX vs JL w6 (for SQ purposes).

To clarify, this thread is directed at JL nuthuggers, not SQ oriented setups. I made this thread after being attacked for disproving of JL and being told I knew nothing and did not care about "SQ"

You "disprove" JL because you read a few guys online say how their subs were "OMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG, SO MUCH BETTER THAN JL, FOR SOOOOOOO MUCH CHEAPER"

Fact of the matter, is you don't know what true SQ is. You don't know enough about the products or companies to make such a statement. You should stop talking.

Dude! It's an overpriced fornicated sq (sound queir, duh) sub for ****'s only! God.... Don't you know anything.

And... Jl does make a great sub. They can be used in sq all day long. Problem is, they are ******* expensive and for the money for one, you can buy two of something of equal or greater value. If I could find a nice used jl for a normal price, I'd jump on it. But... I'm also *****. Ask my ol lady!

JL HD900/5 = 999 by JL MAP

There's a hole in your logic, prince. I know you can find JL cheaper on the used market. Same with all the brands I mentioned. JL has a couple things going for them, I'll give you that. The W6 and marketing. Don't say the W7 because that is literally one of the most temperamental subs I've ever had to tune for friends. I wouldn't own one after those experiences.

If we're talking true sq, I doubt most people in the professional circuit would recommend JL, either. Genesis, Hybrid, PHD, and a few others maybe.

Referring to whom? I've owned JL and don't have much of anything against them besides the fact they get glorified for offering very little in terms of features over the competition.
