Is is possible to make your own distribution block, or is that a no no?

Here is some pics of the ones i made for my truck out of copper I made 4 of them for around $60 and some time. They have set screws and take up to 6 2/0 wires. In my opinion they are better then any thing on the market for my needs as well as for much less. If making them is not for you check out darvex.com

Why not? Its a piece of metal with wires stuck to it.
Yeah I know, but I thought distro blocks are very thick because they keep resistance very low.

I was thinking of just using 2 gold/brass clamps, and clamping down all 3 wires (4gau input, 2 4 gau outputs ) inside a single clamp. Is that no good or is that ok?

I can get these parts cheap. I don't care how it looks; functionality before aesthetics imo.

Wait a second...is it just me, or does 4g wire splitting into 2 4g wires not make sense?

The 4g wire 'in' can only match x1 4g wire 'out'. So both 'out' wires are only using about half of what the 4g wire 'in' is using.

So theres no reason you should have x2 4g wires going out, x2 8g wire would be more than enough. Right?

Just get some gold plated ring terminals and a copper bolt/nut. put bolt inside rings, put nut over it. electrical tape around it.

Picture:

o = x3 ring terminals, bolt, & nut.

hate to admit it but I've done this in a pinch when I didn't have the distro I needed. Worked fine for me though, and I just used a regular old steel bolt.
