Is DB Drag dead?

Where to begin with this post...hmmmm...

Well for starters... those individuals who are saying that FINALS should be in the east, north east or whatever you want to call it. Where exactly were you guys the last 2 years it was in INDY ? I was there and let me tell you something, I dont consider an event housed in a big metal shack with a total of 4 vendors and about 83competitors a WORLD FINALS... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

And for the record out of those 83 competitors you can be assured that there was an overlap of a few that where both in DRAG and Bass Race... so tell me this how brutal is it that finals had less than 80 competitors last year

Where where all the massive amount of competitors?

After all isnt that central and close to the HUNDREDS of competitors

that are part of the "competitor base"

There was a poor showing in INDY...thats a fact !!

People complain about it being moved far away from the "COMPETITOR BASE" meanwhile they did nothing for finals to begin with when it was held in INDY.

How about a simple breakdown for those who say it was moved away from their principal "competitor base"

I did a quick calculation and in DRAG about 60% of the competitors where either in INDIANA or the neighboring 2 states or so. The other 40% had to travel more than 2 states to get to the event.

As for Bass Race a total of 65% where within 2 states while 35% where from further... now ho about these super numbers there was a total of 31 Bass Race competitors at finals... which mean it was a whopping 23 competitors that where within 2 states of the location //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Where is this MIGHTY support you hear about?

Where were all the hundreds of competitors in the East and North East.

After all isnt this the main hub of competitors in the organization?

Seems thats what everyone is saying.

Regardless of location the fact is that competitions will never get back to the way they were. I've been at every finals since 2000.

I've seen the HIGHS and the LOWS and let me tell you the only lows I've seen are when it was in the "East and North East" of the US. Bottom line is things are changing, the industry is not what it used to be. Times are tough for everyone but the fact of it is YOU AND I are not the ones that are having to pay to make FINALS happen. People think its that easy to just throw a finals event together. Finals is supposed to be just that... WORLD FINALS !!!!

Its funny I haven't seen a SINGLE competitor in EUROPE complain about having to travel thousands of miles to compete. People are not complaining about having to travel through various countries just to get to the German location. Its funny people here complain about gas prices meanwhile the price of Gas over there is ASTRONOMICAL compared to what we pay here.

So much more to say...but this is what I have for now

It's cool.... I was wanting him to respond so I could mess with him a bit BUT, he dipped out before I could.. I was going to set him off on the same tangent he went down over on the Steve Mead forum. A bunch of the "Meaders" was attempting to tell Stacy how much louder he is than anything Stacy has every built and so on and so forth.....
that's a pile of fail right there in the making.

It sounds to me that maybe a new Competition Organization needs to be started and make a big push on all of the locale car audio dealerships across the country. Have a state finals and the winners of the state finals goes on to World Finals and have it at three locations at the same time across the country through the internet. Combine parts of each different organization for something where any one can compete whether they are in MECA, Db Drag, USACi, or what ever they may be in now. All money for fees pays for World Finals and all money for locale shows is for the host / dealer. This way we work with the locale dealers to sponsor competitors instead of depending on the manufactures to carry the load on something that does not make them much money right now. Then, once the dealers are making extra money in SPL competitions, it will be only a matter of time before the manufactures are back to sponsoring competitors once again.
If any one here is old enough to have been around the competition world back in its hay day (mid to late 90's) they will remember that it all started with locale dealer support and I think it has died without locale dealer support. But, that is just what i think ??
Problem with that is most shops dont care to have a show at all. Even a small show. I been to mostly all the local places around my south NJ area and they have all given me "we will think about it" and I never hear from them. Last legit shop that did a show around my part was one in vineland area like 4 years ago. And it was pretty shady with an old AC mic and they guy was a D!ck Head to start with. Only one I know that is pretty consistant in running a show is over in DE they do a slapshow each year(SLAPSHOW=Best RUN SHOW FASTEST IN AND OUT turnaround GREAT ppl to deal with) I will say maryland is doing well with the shops running shows. But like I said before Im to old to be sitting at a show for over 8 hours plus.
