is custom boxes the way to go??? i have 2 rockford 10"s with to truck boxes i bought from best buy. should i sell those and get a custom box built.

if its sealed you probably wouldn't tell a difference if its made of a decently thick wood with the correct airspace....

yes in a way but it seems they dont hit as hard as my friends. some people told me that i needed to get a custom box so i would have more airspace and a harder hit. i didnt know so i asked yall.

those are good sized sealed boxes for those subs. but if you want loud go ported but otherwise your good on airspace

okay ported. but i have seen boxes that have holes in the top. cant i just do that.

Just making a hole in your box won't make a difference and will probably make it sound worse. The opening in your box needs to have a depth to it. This is what determines the tuning frequency in addition to volume and port area. They sell things called Aeroports that you just drop in.

Those are some examples. You would make the hole, and then drop one of those in. The only problem is that ported boxes need more interior volume so your box you have right now may be too small for porting.

well thanks alot guys. you all have been a big help. i will try somthing. look around on here some more and do something. thanks. i will post pictures of what i do.
