lolNo, a cap is not required for that amp. Depending on the amp, most will have a current limiting capacitor built into the amp therefore an additional capacitor is not needed. Either way for a 500 watt mono you will be fine. However, capacitors are the best choice to solve dimming or any other voltage issue dealing with a single channel amp. "Capacitors are crap" if installed incorrectly I agree, seek help with your next install if you arent getting any better performance with a cap.
