I wanted to know if a JL 500/1 amp is okay for my two JL 10W6s. I understand my subs are dual coil 6ohm with 300RMS and someone mentioned that I need a 1 OHM stable amp to get the most out of my subs. Will the 500/1 deliver?
The amp will be fine on those subs. Wire the coils of each sub in parallel and then wire the subs in parallel. Results in a nominal 1.5 ohm load which that amp is stable into. 250W per sub is more than enough to get the most out of them in a small sealed box. If you don't have the box yet, I've had great results from those subs in a .625cf box per sub.
Yea, you can usually find a 500/1 for in between 250=325 on ebay....I'm getting one around next week, but i wanna go with some 12's so when I upgrade to the 1000/1 I won't have to switch out the subs hopefully.
good deal .. very nice amp.. You'll get 600 rms outta that amp.. a little underpowering those subs, but port them around 1.5^3 net and tune to around 38 hz.. you'll love em
The original W6s sound terrible in a ported box. I used to run 6 of them in about .625 sealed each. You only need 150ish watts per sub to get the full potential out of them. They can thermally handle 300 watts, but they can't mechanically handle over 150.
